Will Red Fred Kessler listen to Rich Zipperer’s call for comprehensive earmark reform in Wisconsin?

Red Fred Kessler is again standing in the way of reforming Wisconsin, this time it is the obstructor himself who is the Chairman of the Assembly State Affairs and Homeland Security committee.

On Monday, Rep. Rich Zipperer the primary author of the Earmark Transparency Act is again calling for earmark reform as there needs to be earmark reform in the Badger state now.  At a time when every major newspaper in Wisconsin has ripped on the Assembly Democrats for their secrecy on the state budget, the same state representative who stood in the way of school choice is basically standing in the way of earmark reform.

The reason why is that Red Fred doesn’t want to reveal which earmarks he is putting in the budget to benefit his district.  This is a reason why many Democrats have not took a stand on this issue.  This case with Red Fred shows that Democrats in Wisconsin since 2006 have had a horrible record of government reform.  Democrats in Wisconsin have blocked legislation for comprehensive transparency and earmark transparency showing again that the Democrats are the “Party of No Government Reform”.

Mark Block, the Wisconsin State Director for Americans for Prosperity said during the Taxpayer Tea Party in Prairie du Chien last Saturday that the Wisconsin state budget which was brought with earmarks called the budget “absolutely criminal.”  The Earmark Transparency Act is the only way we can end the state budget secrecy.   After passing this bill, we need to make sure party caucuses in the legislature are following open records/meetings laws.  It will take an act of the legislature to end this state budget nonsense.

Red Fred come out of the closet and tell the people of Wisconsin what is holding you back from holding a public hearing on the Earmark Transparency Act?  If you cannot Red Fred, we will label you as another corrupt hack in Madison that needs to be given his pink slip.
