Today is a day to be happy Wisconsin as there is another Badgers team fighting for an NCAA title. Our Men’s Hockey team is fighting for a spot in the Frozen Four in MoTown this weekend. Tonight, the Badgers play against the Vermont Catamounts in a NCAA Regional semifinal. The winner will play against St. Cloud State or New Hampshire tomorrow night for the right to go to MoTown the weekend after Easter.
I think good Detroit karma will strike again as the Badgers have won two of their six NCAA titles in the Motor City. They won in 1977 at old Olympia Arena in Detroit and in 1990 at the Joe Louis Arena in Downtown Detroit home to the Red Wings. If the Badgers make it to the Frozen Four, it would be held at Ford Field. When I was in Wisconsin Dells for the AFP Summit, people I know from Michigan who I talked to who were at the conference want the Badgers to be in the Frozen Four as they see the Badgers as a economic stimulus for the flailing Motor City.
The game is 8:00 PM tonight from St. Paul, MN at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN on ESPNU.
