Yesterday, Chuck Todd of NBC has pulled Wisconsin off its map from leaning Obama to too close to call. Chuck Todd said, “With (McCain) putting Palin on the ticket, this is firing up the (GOP) base in Wisconsin, and evangelicals too.”
Here is what I can say as Wisconsin is now up for grabs
- Basically putting Palin on McCain’s ticket will make it impossible for Obama to steal votes out of conservative strongholds in Wisconsin like Appleton, Green Bay, Waukesha, Menomonee Falls, Oshkosh, and anywhere along the I-41/43 corridor except the City of Milwaukee. There are a lot of evangeical voters in this region and this is why it will be harder for Obama-Biden to be competitive in this region.
- That Obama is forced to compete harder in Eau Claire and LaCrosse which will determine who will the election along with Racine and Kenosha Counties.
- That McCain-Palin can attract disaffected Dems in Milwaukee and Madison. Obama has Madison and Dane County locked up, but expect McCain can steal votes away from independent voters in Dane in Milwaukee County that will make his margin of victory in Wisconsin’s two largest metro counties seem less than expected.
- Expect more fundraisers from Obama as right now, Obama not taking public financing is basically putting his campaign at a disadvantage.
All in all, if McCain can keep up the momentum and attract the crowds at rallies like we had in Cedarburg last Friday and keep Obama off message, there is no doubt Wisconsin will be red for the first time in 24 years.
