Steve Moore of the Wall Street Journal talked in front of packed room at the Holiday Inn O’Hare Chicago breaking down the impact of HR 2454 known as the Cap and Trade Legislation.
Mr. Moore talked about the impacts of the legislation and how it would affect manufacturing rich states like Wisconsin and Illinois who would be seriously affected by the legislation. Moore said: “I have known the other side and I debated the other side for a long time, this is the same group of people that are against, wind, nuclear, oil, or any type of new energy reform.” “Mr. Moore also stated: “These supporters in yesterdays vote who are against economic progress took a giant leap forward.
With Wisconsin being affected by higher business taxes at the state level in the new state budget, Steve Moore has said: “This legislation will kill jobs in manufacturing states in Michigan, Illinois, and Wisconsin.” This comes into light as companies like Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac and Thomas Products in Sheboygan are facing decisions on whether to stay in business in Wisconsin or move to lower tax states like Oklahoma and Louisiana.
Also, Mr. Moore talked about the cap and trade vote yesterday in Congress as the big buzz here today is potenial US Senate candidate Mark Kirk (R-Illinois-10th) who voted for cap and trade. Moore who has known the Chicago North Shore area Congressman for a long time has said that “he blew any chance he has to run for Senate by voting yes for cap and trade.” Also, Moore encouraged activists in Illinois to hold Congressman Kirk accountable because Moore has said that “Kirk has been hearing from activists on the other side, he needs to be hearing from our side.”
Also, Moore has encouraged activists to be the difference makers especially with the upcoming health care legislation in Washington as “we need to have a loud voice.”
