MKE County Budget to Go: Liebenthal’s shell game on courthouse security

A tidbit on the Milwaukee County Budget delivered by the Apple WordPress App on iPhone:

Yesterday, Chris “Capper” Liebenthal commented on a previous post and tried to shoot down our analysis on the Milwaukee County Budget.

With the County Board yesterday shot down Scott Walker’s proposal to privatize courthouse security and housekeeping, Liebenthal was rooting for the county board’s actions despite the County could of have saved a real chunk of change. $6 million means a lot to the overburdened taxpayers of Milwaukee County.

However, Liebenthal’s motives are evidenced by the shell game that the left in Wisconsin does engage in. The shell game that people like Chris Liebenthal act one dimensional on the Milwaukee County Budget and the disregard of the consequences that come with high spending.

Scott Walker is right in his motives to privatize courthouse security which is nothing new across the nation. The federal courthouse in Milwaukee and courts in tons of other places across the country privatize their courthouse security and even housekeeping.

However, that savings of $6 million would allow for more private sector jobs to be created at a time Milwaukee needs them. Any private security firm in Milwaukee would be drooling for a big contract like this.

The shell game that Liebenthal engages in of disregarding the real costs of county employee wages and benefits shows that he doesn’t care about the taxpayers. All he cares about is protecting the status quo for his special interest pals.

Chicago Mayor Richard Daley admitted in today’s Chicago Tribune that he would privatize before raising taxes. Maybe Capper could learn from Chicago’s Mayor before bashing Scott Walker standing up for taxpayers.

  1. capper says:

It has been proven time and time again that privatization is rarely cheaper. The security at BHD (or mental health complex) has been privatized years ago. the last two years, they have been over a half million dollars over budget each year.

You really need to go back to remedial blogging camp.

You said “With the County Board yesterday shot down Scott Walker’s proposal to privatize courthouse security and housekeeping, Liebenthal was rooting for the county board’s actions despite the County could of have saved a real chunk of change.”

Is that sentence even in English? Seriously?
