Despite I am a proud UW-Madison alumni, I was shocked to hear on Sunday morning before I headed back to Wisconsin that Michigan State Head Coach Mark Dantonio suffered a heart attack after the game against Notre Dame.
It is good to hear Coach Dantonio is OK and resting comfortably. He may not be back on the sidelines in time for the Badgers-Spartans Big 10 opener as doctors list him out indefinitely. The Big Ten lost two good football coaches over the last four years including Randy Walker of Northwestern and Terry Hoeppner of Indiana. They departed from us too young.
Coaching is a stressful job indeed. What happened to D’Antonio is going to be a wake-up call for other coaches to be more aware of their health.
I want to extend my thoughts and prayers to Coiach Dantonio, his family, the entire Michigan State football program, and all of the Michigan State fans /alumni across the nation that are affected by this.
